Glen Affric Duathlon News

Hydro Scheme Construction

Green Highland Renewables Ltd will be starting construction on two micro hydro electric schemes in Glen Affric at the end of February. The work involved, despite its close proximity to some parts of the course, will not affect the duathlon. The work will continue into 2017.

All work will be done on weekdays thus ensuring no construction activities or traffic on race day. This post should be regarded purely for information purposes only. Travelling to and from the event and parking arrangements will not be affected in any way.

The first scheme at Gleann nam Fiadh is partly on the route of the 7.5 mile first stage hill run but we do not anticipate any modifications to the course. The second scheme at Allt Garbh on the south side of Loch Affric will utilise part of the bike stage for vehicle access but again will only be used on weekdays. We have met with GH and have received assurances that the principle contractors will ensure the route is kept up to a suitable standard.  We will be in regular contact with GH and post any updates as is necessary.
